Rafting vs. Canoeing
While both offer incredible experiences, our guided rafting trips are often more focused on navigating whitewater, with guides taking the lead. Our canoe trips, on the other hand, provide a more paddle-focused experience, ideal for exploring serene sections and enjoying the river at a more leisurely pace.

Payette River Trip FAQ's
What should I wear for a rafting trip?
We recommend fast-dry clothing that you don't mind getting wet, especially for rafting or if you plan to take a dip. Long sleeves, a hat, and other coverage from the sun is always a good idea too, as shade on the river is sparse.
Is previous experience required for guided trips?
No experience needed! Our guides will provide all the instruction necessary. If you choose to rent gear and adventure on your own, the folks at our shop in McCall will get you pointed in the right direction.
What's the best time of year for Payette River rafting?
Generally, the summer months are most popular, although trips are offered from May - early November. Check with us for availability and conditions.
Are children allowed on guided trips?
Yes, children are welcome and encouraged to join!
What wildlife might I see on the Payette River?
Bears, moose, bald eagles, elk, deer, and various species of trout all call the Payette River valley home.
